A place for us to talk and take action.

blights and plights and fighting for bright when all of the might in the universe seem pretty frightful

A seventeen year old girl ran a red light and destroyed my car, and the police officer refused to listen to a bystander's witness---that she plowed into me---because the fellow had been drinking beer and was a marginal sort of character. He approached me immediately after the impact, as I sat in my car stunned, uncertain whether I was hurt. "My God! Are you OK? I saw the whole thing. She ran that red light," he said to me. The officer asked me half a dozen times if I was fucking drunk, me who has approximately three or four beers and glasses of wine ANNUALLY. I still am not certain that her insurance will pay. Meanwhile I'm out of pocket left and right to fix my car, rent a car, etc., etc.

I'm considering leaving the country, and I'm pretty pissed off at God right now too, though I'm doing my best to continue to act on my recognition that the only place to dwell is right at the heart of God's good grace. I say all this, of course, without a religious bone in my body.

Undoubtedly, your experience is all lottery winnings and easy street, I'm sure. NOT!!! Everybody is fucked, of course. But everywhere I look, the trust fund kids and the petty, mother-fucking bourgeois are the gatekeepers and agenda-setters. And, rather than seek to achieve the social and financial and technical and political basis for something really revolutionary to happen, everyone is pretty close to 100% stuck on the same old whines and the same old remedies---i.e., elect Kerry even though, at best, he's a relatively decent thug with a good pedigree. I don't have any solid answers, but motherfucker! I'm at least asking some questions instead of pretending that the Democratic Party has ANY connection to a better future for my kids.

Keep me posted, let me HEAR from you, and, by God, I love you!!

P.S. You are always welcome to post whatever I send. It's a good yarn, if nothing out. "Check this out! One of our semi-psychotic writers just went OFF!! The man is clearly visiting the planet 'Oblivia' and needs a call on the clue phone." You hear what I'm saying to you?

Oh man that's awful. I hope that don't happen to me, since I lack funds to buy another car at all. If that happens, I'm out a job, which makes that quite a bit harder.

I agree it's awful. One reason why we need to be reasonable able law suits, don't you think? Hope you find a job soon.

Hope you find a job soon.

Actually I do have a job, but without a car, there would be very long commute time to there ( approx 2 hours via bus/train compared to car's 35 minute drive ). That's why I hope I never lose my car.

Oh, sorry, I read it wrong! Yes, that would make a huge difference.

I still am not certain that her insurance will pay. If they do, you won't get a fair settlement.

stevendedalus - No, he probably won't. He's having a bit of a rough time right now. I'm expecting some new articles from him soon, though. He's such a talent.
